Rather Disturbing

There is something out there that I find rather disturbing. I noticed it about a year ago, and this year I think I know why. They represent all that is evil in this world.

Bratz Dolls.

Have you seen these things? Anyone out there with a sister, niece, daughter or granddaughter between the ages of 3-12 have I'm sure. I ordered my youngest niece the winter collection for Christmas from Toys R Us dot com. My beautiful UPS Man delivered them Wednesday.

They are HOTT with 2 T's in the tween set.(If anyone can tell me where that saying came from I will love you forever and a day.) They are "cooler" then Barbie, with hipper clothes and a more current sense of style.

Now I know some people find it totally acceptable to dress their 9 year old child up like a 23 year old club slut, and that's their perogative, even if it is Wrong! Wrong! Wrong! Did I say it was wrong?? Don't even get me started on this topic. I guess now they want their dolls to look like 23 year old club sluts too.

Anyway, even this isn't the lingering why are these dolls familiar looking? They are strange, with oversized heads and little tiny bodies.

Here is Exhibit A:

Now let's take a look see at Exhibit B:

Exhibit C:

exhibit D:

exhibit E:

Do you see what I see? Women that have made their self so skinny that their heads look extremely large compared to their bodies.

For fuck's sake, why don't we just give them red Anna bracelets and sign them up for one of those pro anorexia sites when they hit 8?

That, and those dolls just creep me out. I think I'm going to keep them in my shed until Christmas.

Aside from their large heads on skinny, sluttily dressed bodies...did you know that in order to change the Bratz doll's shoes, you actually have to pull their feet off and put on whole new feet with shoes attached??? Now tell me that's not creepy and bizarre!

Great post! I've added you to my blogroll. I'm feel bad for the ten year old girls whose parents allow them to dress like mini-sluts. I've never understood it.

Okay, you've convinced me. I won't be buying the crew any of those dolls for Christmas.

I hate those dolls too. And, parents that dress their nine year olds like their are 16 or 22 or 34 should wonder why men look at them like they are 16, 22 and 34.

The dolls are bothersome, but the stores with the actual clothes in the mall bother me more. I get angry every time I catch my self staring at someone in a club slut out fit only to realize that hey wait thats a teenager! I'm not s outraged at their lack of decorum. I just hate the instant feelings of shame and guilt that go along with their making me feel like some kind of dirty old man for staring at something I should never have had the opportunity to have seen in the first place.

Oh thank God Gus! Now we don't have to worry about your crew having unrealistic visions of what women should look like once you kill the blubbery bastard...

Wow Rich, I never thought about how men would feel when they see these girls. Very, very interesting. It is natural to check out women, so I suppose if it looks like a woman at first only to find out it is a kid, that would be rather shocking and/or disturbing.

I love Bratz dolls, but I agree that anyone who allows his or her child to go out of the house dressed like that is completely insane.

My daughter has one, but she is 10 years old, and has never worn a skirt more than one inch above her knees (at least not since she could walk. She has been taught the difference between cute and slutty, and knows when she sees people walking around half dressed, it's wrong. We also talk openly about things, so that I know when she has a question or a problem, she feels comfortable coming to me, and she does. She even comes to me when talking about boys (i cringe, since she's only 10, but she still says they're kinda gross, so i don't mind - yet). As long as we keep the lines of communcation open...

If more people would teach their children (and stop pretending they're little dolls) before allowing them to have toys like this, it wouldn't be so bad.

(Also, those pictures are unfair. I notice that a lot of pictures from certain websites make people's heads look huge. If you look at decent images of these people, they really don't look like that. Really. But you have a point - they could all stand to have a double cheeseburger or two...)

One of the recent marketing of Bratz is a blind date. Included are cocktail glasses, a "bottle" of something, and the message aimed at "6 to 10" year olds to see what her date has "planned." The idea that 6 to 10 year olds emulate drinking and giving up any power over their activities to someone that they don't even know scares the shit out of me. This is what we are being told is the way to educate our daughters on what being a woman means. And, it is very, very scary.

I am so glad to see that somone else thinks this... And, what about their large mouths???? creepy, creepy....

sarafenix, you've got to be kidding me...

Wine glasses and see what your date has planned? And they say Barbie is old fashioned.

My God I can't believe I gave those people my money...

You know what Laura? I never noticed the large mouths until you said that.

All the more to get collegen injections, my pretty.

That is disturbing. The devil dolls are definitely staying in my shed until Christmas..

My daughter told me...
while discussing britney's trashy look..

"Oh, the white trash, trailer park is very IN now mom..."
Note the new truck Ashton Kutcher is driving to pick up (once again) demi's DAUGHTER....
The Bratz dools are dressed up white trash..

WHEN is this look gonna change??

My daughter is just now getting into Barbie and all that fun stuff, and has not thankfully expressed an interest in a Bratz doll. I just don't think I could buy them for her. At her previous daycare there was a little girl in kindergarten that was crazy for the Bratz dolls and her parents were actually buying her all the little accessories. Insane, completely insane.
